Rogers-owned Fido and Telus-owned Koodo unveiled new plans to match the deals. launched Bell's Virgin Plus on December 11th.. (It didn't take long!)
Yesterday Virgin added an extra $10 per month discount to some of its plans, creating 40/50GB and 45/70GB options. Now other providers have similar offerings, but with some key differences.
Fido
Fido plans as of December 12, 2025
Let's start with Fidowhich offers the following plan options for customers using their own phone:
- $40/40GB 4G + 10GB bonus data, 500 international minutes (includes $10/month credit).
- $45/10GB 4G + 10GB bonus data, 500 international minutes.
- $45/60GB 4G + 10GB bonus data, 1,000 international minutes (includes $10/month credit).
Like Virgin, Fido has provided a $10 per month discount on some of its plans, on top of existing 10GB data bonuses and a $15 per month auto-pay discount. Notably, Fido's plans only offer 4G data (with speeds capped at 150Mbps), just like Virgin. Fido plans also include unlimited calls and texts across Canada, standard add-ons such as voicemail, and a free hotspot add-on after Earlier this year, Fido made hot spotting a paid feature..
Code
Koodo plans as of December 12, 2025
Let's move on to Codehe has the following plans:
- $40/40GB 5G + 10GB Bonus.
- $45/60GB 5G + 10GB Bonus.
- $75/100GB 5G.
Koodo's plans include 5G data speeds of up to 250Mbps, which sets its plans apart from those of Fido and Virgin. Another notable difference is that Koodo offers customers free perks of their choice as part of their plan, including options like premium voicemail, data portability, 5G speed boosts, and more. This 5G speed boost doubles speeds to 500Mbps, making Koodo's plans significantly better than others (though if 250Mbps is enough for you, you have the option of choosing a different bonus).
Koodo's plans also include unlimited minutes across Canada and unlimited international texting—just like Virgin's plans—and include a $10 per month autopay discount.
Of the three plans, I think Kudo offers the best value for money. However, there are better options. Freedom Mobile, for example, Boxing Week deals have just been announced. for example, the Canada/US/Mexico 5G plan costs 39/70 GB. It's better value for money than anything described above—if you live in an area where you can get a Freedom plan, it's probably the best option right now.
