Fido adjusts plans, now more expensive

If you go to Fido's home page, you'll see the company promoting its latest offer, which includes mobile hotspot access and an additional 10GB of data. Wow! Too bad it's a terrible deal.

First of all, other carriers offer free hotspot access, which is even more frustrating because Fido previously stopped including hotspot capabilities in its plans.. Additionally, Fido still only offers LTE speeds, and plans were $5 cheaper last month. than they are now. And if you check out Fido's September dealsall current plans cost more for the same amount of data, even when you factor in “bonus” data. My guess is that the company is now trying to inflate its plans to make the Black Friday deals seem more significant.

The new plans are:

$45 – 20GB, Unlimited Call/Test in Canada, 500 International Texts.
50-50GB, Unlimited Calling/Testing in Canada, 500 International Texts.
$55 – 70 GB, unlimited calling/testing in Canada, 500 international texts.

I think what annoyed me most about these plans and about telecom marketing in general is that it's all just fake. New plans are popping up all the time, and only a third of them seem to be worth purchasing, even though they're all being sold as hot deals.

Want the real deal? Try signing up with a different wireless company, preferably one that isn't owned by the Big Three. Freedom Mobile, for example, has $39/60GB 5G Plan for Canada/US/Mexico. Fizz is giving away tons of free data for Black Friday. Even Public Mobile (owned by Telus) has decent plans like $40/40GB 5G Plan for Canada/US/Mexico.
