Remedy postponed FBK: Fiery BreakthroughRogue Protocol update from January 2026, reporting that it “still needs a little more time.”
While the long-requested feature, cross-platform voice chat, rolled out as planned this week, Remedy's larger Rogue Protocol update has been pushed back to an unspecified date in January, taking with it the new Endless Shift mode.

Team said the extra time will “help us make sure everything is fine: polished, balanced and worthy of your time,” and to ease the pain of the delay, they shared some additional details about the new wave-based survival mode.
“Each Endless Shift transports you and your team into an enclosed arena, where waves of enemies become stronger with each round,” the update explains. “You always start with the bare essentials for the fight. After each wave, you collect Corruption, a strange residue left behind by defeated enemies. This energy can be spent between rounds to unlock powerful upgrades, weapons and enhancements, allowing you to create a completely new build each time you go.”
When it does release, Rogue Protocol will be the second major content release for Firebreak following September's Breakpoint update, in which Remedy admitted that it “took a lot of feedback to heart” and worked over the summer to bring “significant improvements and new systems and content” to the game.
Last month we learned that FBC: Firebreak. still hasn't achieved the studio's internal goals “despite improved player performance and sales since the update.” Remedy gave investors a profit warning as it cut its operating profit forecast “due to weak sales of FBC: Firebreak,” saying the missed target had a “material impact” on the studio's finances and revised its forecast downward. The company now expects operating profit to be “negative and lower than the prior year.”
Ten days after this financial report, Remedy Entertainment CEO Tero Virtala has resigned from his position at Alan Wake Studios, effective immediately..
