With less than two weeks until the premiere of Fallout's second season, fans are eagerly awaiting any information about how the series will impact the franchise. return to New Vegas. Well, now we have (just a few) answers.
Performing in front of a packed house at CCXP25 in Brazil, several of the show's stars, including Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, Aaron Moten and Justin Theroux, showed off their chops. new look at season 2 and introduce viewers to what fans of the game can enjoy when the new season hits Prime Video. The first season contained many callbacks to the games, and it looks like we can expect more in season two.
“There's an Easter egg in every corner you look,” said Walton Goggins, who plays Cooper Howard, aka the Ghoul. “But no more than House. It becomes more than just the presence of life.”
Goggins, of course, was referring to none other than Robert House, the enigmatic leader of New Vegas portrayed in the series by Justin Theroux. “In the video game, we don't actually see a flesh-and-blood House,” Theroux said. “Mr. House is (mostly) on screen. And I think (Fallout producers) Geneva (Robertson-Dworet), Graham (Wagner) and Jonah (Nolan) are smart enough to say, “No, let's see how this guy breathes. Let's see what he was like before Armageddon.” And it was a lot of fun just from an acting standpoint to bring this character to life and see him walk. It was really fun.”
When asked about the challenges of bringing House to life, Theroux admitted that he wanted to respect the character's legacy from the game. “The challenge was to make it as real as possible. Obviously, don't make phone calls and try to compete with a great actor (Rene Auberjonois, who died in 2019), who was already his voice in the game.”
Goggins and Theroux, longtime friends, were thrilled to work together on screen. “I've been a fan and friend of Justin for a very long time,” Goggins said. “We'd never worked together. What I was most looking forward to was being in that space and watching my friend do his thing and listening to him. And when he showed up, he brought the whole world with him.”
“It’s like getting invited to watch your favorite magician perform his tricks,” Theroux said of Goggins. “We got to do a couple of barn-burning scenes together, and it was a lot of fun filming those scenes.”
The second season of Fallout will stream on December 17 on Prime Video.
