Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) “is not a statesman,” Massie challenger Ed Galrein, a generational farmer who served in the Navy SEALs, said during a speech at Breitbart news on Saturday.
Galrein, who was endorsed by Trump, explained that Massie is “not a Kentucky statesman” but a “career politician.”
“So as far as that goes, at a high level you have to bring solutions to the table. Have the integrity and credibility to push them. He can't do that,” he said.
Ultimately, Galrein said, Massie's voices are actively “pitching and actually using the opposing party against us and the agenda that we put forward to move America forward.”
He also noted that President Donald Trump has only a limited time to implement his program.
“Time is ticking. The President knows this from his first term. He will only have a limited amount of time to implement his agenda. And the dynamics – look how quickly President Trump moves. Just remember,” he said, pointing to the Gaza peace accords and Trump's honoring of Charlie Kirk.
“Think how fast it's moving. It's on its way to Asia, isn't it? … Look how fast it's moving. And then you have this kind of obstacle at a time when our country is at a key crossroads in advancing this agenda, in rebuilding our nation,” he said. “History will soon punish us if we do not seize this opportunity to restore our nation to greatness.”
He also spoke about his military history as well as his relationship with President Trump, calling the commander in chief “very outgoing and gracious.”
“I just, of course, cannot divulge the nature of the conversation, but remember, when I walked into this office last Friday, I was not a candidate for anything other than grandfather of the month, although, again, he knows that deep down I am for our nation and its future,” he said.
“I’m inspired by what he’s doing and that if we don’t take advantage of this opportunity, history will punish us” if voters continue to choose “an obstacle like the career politician that Massie put in place” when “Kentucky 4 voted overwhelmingly for change after the disastrous Biden administration,” Galrein said.
“The President has a mountain to climb that needs to be overcome. He has a huge task ahead of him. It's all in his hands. And it's okay to come with another alternative solution, but come with a solution, not a problem that will be an obstacle. And obviously, you know, the people of Kentucky will have a choice. You want a Kentucky native who is a true generational farmer, who is a career Navy officer SEALs, a qualified Army Ranger, will be your Champion in Washington, who is not a career politician?” he asked.
“Or do you want a career politician who puts himself before service, unlike me, who has always put service before himself,” Galrein said, adding, “It’s really a pretty simple question.”
