Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley told a Code Pink activist who harassed him in a hallway Wednesday that she is a “human rights violator,” calling out his organization for receiving “blood money from China.”
“I think the United States should investigate your organization and perhaps you for money you took from Chinese donors who are persecuting the Uyghurs,” Hawley said in a video obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Hawley's statement came in response to an activist's question about whether he supported regime change in the country. Venezuela. He pointed to the New York Times. investigation tying the organization to Chinese donors.
A quarter of Code Pink's donations since 2017 have come from groups linked to millionaire Neville Roy Singham, who has close ties to Chinese government media. according to to a New York Times investigation in 2023.

“What about Israel, is it violating the ceasefire?” Code Pink activist asked Hawley.
“I'm pro-Israel. You hate Israel,” Hawley responded. “You love China. You take blood money from China. It's simple.”

“To state very clearly: CODEPINK is in no way funded by China or any other foreign government or agency,” Coordinator of Code Pink’s “China Is Not Our Enemy” Campaign. wrote in April. “We are funded primarily by donations from concerned citizens who support peace, not war.”
Code Pink did not respond to a request for comment.
Indiana Republican Senator Jim Banks called Attorney General Pam Bondi will investigate Code Pink in April due to “growing evidence of Code Pink's deep ties” to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), highlighting the group's “demonstrated track record of acting on behalf of the CCP.”
“Code Pink regularly lobbies for a conciliatory US policy toward China and aggressively denies reports of CCP atrocities, including the CCP's genocide against the Uyghur people in Xinjiang,” Banks wrote. “In January 2025, Code Pink admitted that it organized a 10-day “public trip” to Xinjiang, allegedly on a strictly controlled route organized by the Chinese government, to help communist authorities continue to deny these crimes.”
Hawley told the activist that she “doesn't have the moral decency to admit to yourself that you are taking blood money, that you are being funded by foreign groups that are persecuting minorities, Christians, Muslims.”
“You're wearing a Palestinian flag, which tells you everything you need to know while you're taking this money from China,” Hawley said as the elevator door closed. “You are morally reprehensible.”
