In her posthumous memoir, Virginia Giuffre recounts how she was groomed and sexually exploited as a teenager by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, writing that the abuse included rape by an unnamed prime minister and meetings with powerful men such as the former president. Bill Clinton and President Donald Trump.
The book, “Nobody's Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice,” was released Tuesday and has attracted worldwide attention. Although he made no explicit accusations against Clinton or Trump, Giuffre chronicled meetings with both in contexts unrelated to Epstein's alleged crimes.
Giuffre's story of how she was pulled into the powerful orbit of Epstein and Maxwell begins when her father helped her get a job at Mar-a-Lago, where he worked as a maintenance man. Giuffre's accounts of Trump in the book largely place him as a minor figure in her early days at Mar-a-Lago, where she eventually met Maxwell in the summer of 2000.

“It was no more than a few days before my father said he wanted to introduce me to Mr. Trump himself. They definitely weren't friends. But dad worked hard, and Trump liked it – I saw photos of them posing together, shaking hands,” Giuffre writes. “Trump couldn't have been more friendly, telling me it was great that I was there. “Do you like children?” he asked. – Do you look after children at all? He explained that he has several houses near the resort that he rents out to friends, many of whom have children who require supervision.”
Giuffre also reveals how Epstein and Trump's relationship ultimately fell apart, with a different explanation than the one Trump publicly provided. Giuffre said Trump revoked Epstein's Mar-a-Lago membership after he hit the teenage daughter of another guest, but Trump has said publicly that a fight over Epstein soliciting his Mar-a-Lago spa employees led to the end of their relationship.
Giuffre, who worked in an entry-level position at the resort's spa, said Maxwell tried to hire her as a masseuse despite her lack of experience. Before she knew it, Giuffre was traveling with Epstein and Maxwell around the world providing sexual favors. According to Giuffre, it was difficult to come to terms with the fact that her abusers were held in such high esteem by such powerful figures.
“He was a man who displayed framed photographs of himself with the Dalai Lama, the Pope and members British royal family. The photo, taken at his Palm Beach home, shows Epstein posing behind the podium in the White House briefing room, Giuffre writes. “He was a man who had former President Bill Clinton over for dinner (I was at the table that night) and also hosted Al and Tipper Gore (again, I was there).”

“Maxwell took pride in her friendships with famous people, especially men,” Giuffre added in the memoir. “[Maxwell] loved to talk about how easily she could reach former President Bill Clinton.” According to Giuffre, Epstein and Maxwell visited White House together during Clinton's time in the Oval Office. In the book, Giuffre also recalls Clinton flying on Epstein's plane in 2002, but she was not present on that trip.

“On September 21, Epstein and Maxwell were leaving. New York on a long trip to Africa. Martsinkova flew with them on Epstein's Boeing 727, as did several high-profile guests: actors Chris Tucker and Kevin Spacey, as well as former President Clinton, not to mention six US Secret Service agents. (Clinton said the trip was a humanitarian mission that included stops related to the work of his foundation.),” Giuffre wrote.
However, even though the book mentions Clinton about her experience of being sexually exploited by Epstein, Giuffre lamented the media's tendency to link the former president to Epstein's crimes. “The article was quick to point out that I was never ‘loaned’ to the former president. But I think what the Mail thought was newsworthy was simply that I witnessed Epstein and Clinton together,” she writes.
Among the various human trafficking incidents that Giuffre recounted in her book, which directly implicated powerful people around Epstein and Maxwell, was a brutal rape committed by an unnamed former prime minister on Epstein's private island in US Virgin Islands in 2002. According to Giuffre's account of the incident, Epstein ordered her to have sex with the prime minister, who choked her nearly unconscious and mocked her fear of the situation. Giuffre said that when she returned to Epstein after the incident, she begged not to be sent back to the prime minister, but Epstein told her that the brutality was just part of the job.
According to Giuffre, this horrific incident was a turning point for her.

“Before the Prime Minister attacked, Epstein deceived me. I thought Epstein's predilection for childish girls was a disease, but in his twisted way, he meant well. After the attack, I couldn't remain a fool. After being treated so cruelly, and then seeing Epstein's callous reaction to how intimidated I was, I had to admit that Epstein's doling out of praise was simply a manipulation to keep me in line. Epstein cared only about Epstein,” Giuffre writes in his memoirs. “At this point I hit rock bottom. Now I knew that I would not survive. “I saw only two possible options: either whoever Epstein sold me to would kill me, or I would commit suicide.”
Giuffre after all die by suicide in April, about six months before the release of her memoir.
