Elizabeth Olsen On Only Acting In Movies With Theatrical Release & Why She’d “Jump” At Chance To Play Wanda In MCU Again

Elizabeth Olsen shares her passion for filmmaking and in a recent interview explained why watching films in the cinema is so important.

The actress recently mentioned that she would prefer to star in films that are released in theaters rather than doing them only for streamers.

“If a movie is made independently and only sold to streamers, then fine. But I don't want to do something that's the end all be all,” Olsen said. InStyle.

She continued, “I think it's important for people to come together as a community, to see other people, to be together in a space. That's why I love sports. I think it's really important for people to come together for something that they care about.”

In the same interview, Olsen was asked about one of her most prominent roles, Wanda Maximoff from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Olsen said she has “no idea” if her character is still alive after Scarlet Witch was last seen in 2022. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Of making Marvel films, Olsen said it was “stupid” and “ridiculous,” adding, “We adults act like kids on a playground. We are flying. We shoot from our hands. And this is a character that I had to return to so many times over 10 years. It's nice to put her down and then I miss her and want her back. I would jump at the chance to be in her shoes again.”

WandaVision The star said working with Marvel gave her “consistency of community and work,” adding: “It's financial security, I can make choices. It gives me value, and that's helpful when making independent films.”
