Elder Scrolls TV Series Is Possible, Says Todd Howard

Later this month Fall out will return for a second season on Prime Video. This isn't the only Bethesda adaptation coming to Amazon's streaming service – the Wolfenstein show is coming soon, and some fans are hoping to see an Elder Scrolls game. Bethesda's Todd Howard, who worked as a producer on Fallout and Elder Scrolls, hasn't ruled out the possibility that this could happen. But don't expect an Elder Scrolls series to be released anytime soon.

While talking with eurogamerHoward said he “can't rule out or rule out an Elder Scrolls in the future,” before adding that he thinks Fallout is more suitable as an adaptation because it “has more to say in its genre.”

“But who knows,” Howard added. “I think the show's impact on Fallout as a franchise has been greater than I expected, so it makes me think, 'Hey, is there a path?' But today nothing… [and] I'm ready to say no within a decade.”

Howard said it took more than a decade to bring Fallout into a live-action game, and “people have been asking for a Fallout movie or show” since Fallout 3 came out in 2008. When asked about the Bethesda game, game series Wolfenstein On Prime Video, Howard said it wasn't his place to talk about it and added that any word would come from MachineGames, the Bethesda-owned developer behind the reboot of the Wolfenstein games.

For another recent interviewHoward expressed regret for announcing Elder Scrolls 6 in 2018. He also stated that the long-awaited sequel is “still a long way off.”
