Edmonton Elks sign Kaion Julien-Grant to one-year contract extension

The Edmonton Elks have signed Canadian wide receiver Kion Julien-Grant to a contract extension through the 2026 season.

29-year-old native of Toronto, Ontario. had 57 catches for 820 yards and seven touchdowns this season, leading the team in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He set completely new career heights.

“Kion has proven his worth as a key player in our offense, and we are confident his continued development will further strengthen our team's results,” general manager and vice president of football operations Ed Hervey said in a statement. “This extension reflects our strategic commitment to retaining top talent and building a roster capable of sustained success at the highest level.”

The six-foot, 210-pound target was originally selected in the second round of the 2019 CFL Draft by the Montreal Alouettes out of University of Saint-Forex. In 79 regular season games, he caught 274 passes for 2,476 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The Edmonton Elks finished fifth in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 7–11 record, missing the playoffs for the fifth straight season. Cody Fajardo started the team's final 13 regular-season games and went 6-7, throwing for 3,408 yards, 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Tre Ford started the top five with a 1-4 record and threw for 984 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Moose ranked ninth in net offense, ninth in net defense and fifth with a plus-four turnover margin. The club's leading rusher was Justin Rankin with 1,013 yards, the leading receiver was Kion Julien-Grant with 820 yards, and the leading tackler was Joel Dublanco with 80 tackles. Edmonton ranked seventh in attendance with an average attendance of 19,050, down 7.1 per cent from the previous year.
