I confess: it took me too long to replace the last one bed frame. I bought it on sale after moving into a studio apartment in Washington, D.C., a year before the pandemic, and I still remember the evening when two friends came to help me put it together—they wrote notes on the wooden slats with a black marker. One of them read: “May your dreams begin at night and continue throughout the day.”
The full-size bed survived several moves, including across the country – with difficulty. By the time I was about to replace it, I was propping up one side of it with a stack of books. Moreover, the small bed began to seem real small with my six foot partner and cat as add-ons.
However, I loved its mid-century modern look and knew it was what I wanted in my next purchase. After researching online furniture stores, I came across Edlo Finch. Leif platform bed ($1,095) and immediately fell in love with its sophisticated design and wood finish. I knew this was an update I desperately needed, and luckily I got the chance to try it out.
After a few weeks of sleeping on the new bed, my cat partner and I really liked it. As someone who appreciates good design and a cohesive look for my space, I'm thrilled to have this as a focal point in our bedroom. It may not have any inspirational quotes on its slats (yet), but I expect this beautiful bed frame to last us much longer than the last one.

What I love about the Edloe Finch Leif platform bed
First of all, I'd like to proudly say that I assembled the Edloe Finch Leif queen size platform bed on my own – this time without the help of my friends. It took me about two hours to do it myself, but no part of the job seemed impossible, and the instructions were easy to follow even for someone with little skill. Everything was included except a screwdriver, making installation relatively simple.
Even though my assembly job isn't perfect, the bed itself feels solid and durable. I was a little nervous at first about the sides of the bed, which extend a few inches beyond the mattress. I'm notoriously clumsy and thought I'd hit the edges of my shins. But there are no bruises on the shins yet, and we really like that aspect of the shot. Our cat walks around the edges of the bed and we can also leave phones and water bottles there overnight.
And the photographs should speak for themselves. This mid-century modern look can work in a variety of spaces, but I like that it's a little more designer than the typical wood frame. The wood itself is a delightfully neutral shade; If we ever get tired of the current look, we could completely change the atmosphere of the entire room by simply changing the bedding. Compared to my previous upholstered bed, I really like the solid wood finish. (And the cat has no chance of tearing off the headboard.)
