Drake Files to Appeal “Not Like Us” Lawsuit Dismissal │ Exclaim!

Some people are just obsessed with losing, and Drake is one of them. After him libel suit against Universal Music Group (UMG) on claims Kendrick Lamar stated that he is a “certified pedophile” in “Not like us” was fired at the beginning of the month (and be named in a separate class action lawsuit claiming earlier this week that he conducted “deeply deceptive” marketing for online casino Stake.us), the rapper made good on his legal team's promise to appeal his dismissal. Billboard reports.

Claiming that millions of fans took Lamar's statements about Drake at face value, the Canadian's lawyers immediately expressed their intention to appeal the court's decision. In a statement today, they made that formal, although no details were given about how Drake's lawyers will argue his case. According to BillboardIt could take more than a year for the appeals court to even hear the case, and if the appeal is successful, years of additional litigation could follow.

“This confirms our intention to appeal, and we look forward to the Court of Appeal hearing this application in the coming weeks,” Drake's rep told the publication, while a UMG rep did not immediately respond to their request for comment.

Those still holding out hope that Drake can find the strength to just take the L and stop being embarrassed should probably put their energy elsewhere at this point.
