- New letter from the developer in response to player feedback
- Frequency of hero adjustments to increase
- Six hero trial slots will be available soon.
New starting emotes for Super Saiyan 3, Son Goku, Majin Buu (Hood) and Zamasu came out just a few days ago, and now Bandai Namco has shared a clearer picture of what's next for Dragon Ball: Gekishin Squadra.
The second letter to the developers describes how the team is tweaking its approach to balance and expanding the player experience. These are small but significant changes that show they are paying close attention to feedback.
The most important thing: hero changes will occur more often. Gekishin Squadra originally planned to make balance changes at the start of each season, but after observing the early meta (and a lot of player discussion), the team decided to intervene mid-season. It's a smart move for a MOBA still finding its rhythm, especially in the first season when the power levels of heroes can vary greatly.
Going into some detail, Super Saiyan Son Goku will receive an increase in Meteor Hammer's cooldown and an increase in Kaioken's duration, although its buffs have been toned down to keep things fair. Meanwhile, Majin Buu (Hood) gets some much-needed love thanks to increased HP and stronger attacks.
Trial heroes are also expanding. You should soon have six of them available at once, including first-level characters. This should give more chances to test heroes before committing. I think this is a good incentive if you are a newbie who is just starting out. In addition, you have our Dragon Ball: Tips for Gekishin Squadra to help with that too!
And because Squadra loves its style, each new hero will now spawn with the appropriate emotes from day one, part of a broader change to how store and capsule updates are rolled out. It's not a header, but it makes the game feel more lively between big updates.
Overall, it's still early days for the first season of Gekishin Squadra, and it seems like these changes are being made at a steady pace. They're not reinventing anything yet, but they're listening, and that's often where good live service games start.
