It was a very good end to what started out as a scary situation for dog owners in Whistler, British Columbia, on Saturday.
Whistler firefighters IAFF Local 3944 said in a Facebook post that crews responded to a call about a puppy that had fallen through. thin ice This is Lake Alta.

The owners immediately called 911.
“Thanks to the quick-thinking owners who immediately called 911 and stayed on the scene (rightfully so—never risk your own safety on unstable ice), our crew was able to turn around quickly,” the post said.
The crew was able to safely reach the dog and return him to land “and his freed family.”
“The dog is doing great – a little cold and shaken, but already wagging its tail again,” IAFF Local 3944 said in a statement.
Fire officials said the incident serves as a reminder to be careful around thin ice, keep pets on a leash when near frozen water and call 911 if something goes wrong.
