The Milwaukee Brewers, the No. 1 seed in Major League Baseball's postseason, became the fourth and final team to advance to the league championship round on Saturday night. The Brewers advanced to their first NLCS since 2018 when they defeated the Chicago Cubs in Game 5 of their NLDS matchup to win the best-of-five series with a 3–2 lead. Milwaukee will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers for the opportunity to represent the senior team in this year's World Series.

While the Dodgers are in the NLCS for the fourth time in six years, the Brewers have reached this stage only twice since moving into the NL in 1998: back in 2018 (when they faced the Dodgers) and in 2011 when they were eliminated by the St. Louis Cardinals. The Dodgers are trying to become the first repeat MLB World Series champions since the New York Yankees won three straight from 1998-2000.

NLKS storylines

Dodgers: As noted in the introduction, the Dodgers are seeking to become the first repeat MLB World Series champions since the Yankees won three straight from 1998-2000. The Dodgers' path here included series wins over the Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies. During the regular season, the Dodgers went 0–6 against the Brewers and lost by 15 runs. Of course, the Dodgers would note that all of these games occurred in a small window in July.

Brewers: The Brewers, with the best record in all of MLB, earned a first-round lead and home-field advantage throughout the postseason. This means they will play four games if there are seven. It also means their series against the Cubs was their first playoff game. The Brewers are seeking their first pennant in both leagues since 1982.

Series forecast

jThis should be a great series between two of the best managed organizations in the sport. I picked the Dodgers to win the World Series, which means I have to pick them here. That's no disrespect to the Brewers—it wouldn't be a surprise if MLB's best regular-season team won this series—it just means I owe it to everyone to be consistent about these things. Hence: Dodgers at seven.
