Alex Vecia talks about a difficult time.
After Los Angeles Dodgers announced on October 23 the relief pitcher will be take a vacation in the 2025 World Series, he and his wife Kayla Vessia shared the tragic death of their daughter Sterling Sol Vesia.
“Our beautiful daughter went to heaven on Sunday, October 26th,” they wrote in a joint message. Instagram post from November 7 next to a black and white photo of them holding their child's hand. “There are no words to describe the pain we are going through, but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we have with her.”
In the midst of their grief, Alex and Kayla, who had announced in April that they are expecting a baby,” shared their gratitude to the MLB team.
“Thank you to the Dodgers for your understanding and support during this time,” the couple continued. “Our baseball family came to us and we couldn’t do this without them.”
In addition to thanking the hospital staff they encountered, Alex and Kayla reached out to the baseball community, adding, “Thank you Dodger Nation, the Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen ALL of your messages, comments and posts. It brought us so much comfort.”
