Dillon Dube signs PTO deal with Blues’ AHL affiliate

Dillon Dube signed a professional testing contract with St. Louis BluesAHL affiliate in Springfield, the NHL team announced Wednesday.

The signing means all five players acquitted of sexual assault charges in the high-profile trial of members of the 2018 Canadian junior hockey team have resumed their careers.

In a press release, the Blues said Dube will travel to Springfield after receiving his work visa.

Dube, 27, spent the 2024-25 season with Dynamo Minsk of the KHL in Belarus.

Goaltender Carter Hart signed with the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights in mid-October, just as the window for players to sign new contracts opened.

Forward Michael McLeod, who was also found not guilty of an additional count of involvement in sexual assault, signed a three-year contract with KHL Avangard Omsk in October. McLeod also played for the club last season after initially signing with Russian-based Barys Astana in Kazakhstan.

Alex Formenton has been playing for HC Ambri-Piotta in the Swiss Hockey League since 2022 after the Ottawa Senators decided not to renew his contract.

All of the players except Formenton were in the NHL when they were charged in January 2024 in connection with a 2018 incident in London, Ont. Foote and McLeod were for New Jersey, Hart for Philadelphia, and Dube for Calgary.

These teams did not extend qualifying offers to free agent players in the summer of 2024. The league announced in September that players would be able to sign on October 15 and play on December 1.

The NHL conducted its own investigation beginning in 2022, when the allegations came to light.

During the 2023-24 season, Dube recorded three goals and four assists for seven points in 43 games with the Flames. He scored four goals and seven assists for 11 points in 42 games for Dynamo Minsk last season.
