In just one season, a dark and deceptive Star Wars prequel Novitiate has been canceledand with it, gone was one of the coolest characters to ever join the franchise. No matter how much hate the series, which takes place 100 years before The Phantom Menace, received, The one thing many could agree on was Manny Jacinto's Jedi villain, Kimir, aka The Stranger. who shook his double lightsabers and stole the show. Now, with the release of a new book, The Art of the Acolyte, the details have come to light (via SFF Newsletter) that showrunner Leslye Headland intended for Kimir to become the first Knight of Ren.
“This had to do with the design of the character, as well as the realization that we were going to introduce Darth Plagueis, who would eventually become his apprentice to Palpatine. Following the Rule of Two – a commandment that limited the number of Sith to only two at any given time, a master and an apprentice – one way to preserve this would be for the Stranger to become the first Knight of Ren, part of a Sith-adjacent cult that, we know will ultimately survive.”
