Despite a comeback in third, habs escape in shootout

The Canadiens are currently running out of steam.

They look to end a three-game losing streak tonight against the Blue Jackets.

Here are the ingredients:

The game started poorly for Martin St. Louis' team.

Zach Werenski had all the time in the world to score the first goal of the game.

In the second period, the new second line Juraj Slafkovski, who was the team's most frequently used striker in the first, Ivan Demidov and Oliver Kapanen, came into their own.

Finn finished off the game for his teammates and Mike Matheson.

He's on track to score 30 goals in his debut season.

But before the end of the period, Columbus scored twice.

First, Adam Fantilli took advantage of Joshua Roy's sloppy play to score his team's second goal.

And in the power play, Dmitry Voronkov doubled the advantage.

The Canadiens had a much better third period, scoring two goals in overtime.

Lane Hutson took charge during this period.

With Josh Anderson aiming to cut the deficit to one, he did his best to find the batting line.

And at the end of the period, when Jakub Dobes was on the bench, Hutson scored from the point.

Overtime in Ohio.

Despite the Habs' total dominance in overtime, Jet Greaves didn't give up.

Then we needed a shootout.
