Denise Richards testifies on alleged abuse by estranged husband in hearing – National

Denise Richards broke down in tears in the courtroom Monday as she revealed details of the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of her ex-husband. Aaron Phypers.

Richards, 54, became emotional as she spoke about the alleged abuse and said Phypers “often threatened to throw me out of the windows and off the balconies” of hotels. People reports.

“He almost killed me so many times,” Richards said.

Richards explained what led to their split on July 4th, when she asked her ex-husband to leave the townhouse they shared.

“He got very angry with me and became volatile, he became very close to me,” Richards claimed. “I had just recovered from a full facelift, I still had stitches behind my ears and I felt extremely vulnerable.”

“It came within inches of my face,” Richards testified. “He grabbed my hands and shouted, called me names.”

Richards told the court she felt “extremely vulnerable and sick” and allegedly asked Phypers to stay at their old home, where his family was living at the time.


“Emotionally, it was hard for me to understand. Especially since he did what he did for a living, working in the wellness industry, that he knew how much this would affect me emotionally as well,” she said. “And it just made me feel vulnerable, it made me scared, it made me sad. It made me feel intimidated by him. He's very big.”

Richards recalled an incident she said happened in April when she woke up to Phypers allegedly squeezing her head.

“In April, we returned from a business trip. We were lying on the couch, and he wanted to watch a show and stream it from my phone, so we watched the TV show, and I fell asleep on the couch,” she recalls.

“I woke up to him squeezing my head with his hands. My heart started beating so fast. He said, “You fucking son of a bitch, I just saw you talking to Rudy.” I was shocked because my phone was open to streaming and he was able to log in and see my messages.”

“I thought I deleted them, but I didn’t,” Richards continued. “He started getting louder and I told him to shut up and tell him the girls were sleeping upstairs.”

Phypers did not speak at Monday's hearing.

In court documents filed Sept. 29 and viewed by Fox News DigitalPhypers' lawyers have been named The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alumna Brandi Glanville and ex-husband Richard Charlie Sheen as witnesses.

Richards is mom to daughters Sami Sheen, 21, and Lola Sheen, 20, whom she shares with her ex-husband Sheen. Richards filed for divorce from Sheen in March 2005 after nearly three years of marriage. The divorce was finalized in November 2006.

Phypers' lawyers reportedly said Sheen may testify regarding Denise's “history of lying and drug and alcohol abuse.”

Richards responded to Phypers' witness list by filing an objection on Sept. 30, Fox News Digital reported.

“This individual is not a witness to the abuse committed by plaintiff against defendant,” the document said of both Sheen and Glanville.

Phypers filed for divorce from Richards, citing “irreconcilable differences” and listing the date of their separation as July 4 after six years of marriage.

On July 16, a judge granted Richards a temporary restraining order against Phypers after she accused her ex-husband of years of physical and verbal abuse.

Richards filed a temporary restraining order against Phypers, saying he “regularly threatened to 'break my jaw', cried, begged me to stay and promised to help – none of which ever happened.”

In court documents viewed by USA Today and other publications, Richards wrote that Phypers “gave me at least three concussions.”

Richards said in court documents that throughout her marriage to Phypers, he “threatened to kill me, himself and the police. He owns at least 8 unregistered guns.”

Phypers denied Richards' claims in a Sept. 15 statement and said she “attacked” and “stalked” him on numerous occasions. According to People, who reviewed the court materials.
