Dem Candidate for Congress Hit With Indictment for Blocking ICE Operations; Etching ‘PIG’ on Agent’s Car – RedState

Congressional candidate Kat Abugazale attended a protest at the Broadview ICE facility near Chicago last month, where she was physically removed after attempting to disrupt work.

Now she faces some pretty serious federal charges.

Abugazale, a 26-year-old social media influencer running for Illinois' 9th Congressional District, was charged with two counts of conspiracy to obstruct or injure an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer, and assault or obstruction of that officer in the performance of his official duties.

According to the conspiracy MSNBC reportIf convicted, he faces a six-year prison sentence, while the assault charge could result in an eight-year prison sentence.

The indictment details how Abugazale and five other defendants allegedly conspired to “forcibly prevent” an agency agent from “executing his official duties.”

They were described as “aggressively banging” on a government vehicle, etching the word “PIG” into the body of the vehicle and pushing it so aggressively that they broke the side mirror and windshield wiper.

Video from that day shows Abugazale and scores of other protesters attempting to block an ICE agent's vehicle. It is unclear if this is the incident for which she is now charged. But as you can see, the protesters are definitely banging on the government vehicle.

Abugazale also posted a video claiming he was just an ordinary pedestrian at a crosswalk that was nearly mowed down by agents.

“At the Broadview ICE facility, an ICE agent tried to run down dozens of protesters with an SUV as we walked in a public crosswalk.” She saiddespite the video showing that no one standing in the crosswalk is actually walking.

She also said ICE agents shot “pepper balls” at protesters.

Video from a separate protest a week earlier showed the far-left Democrat being forcibly removed from the road by ICE agents.

One clip uploaded to X by a NewsNation reporter. Ali BradleyThe picture shows a police officer helpfully escorting Abugazale across the street after she deliberately tried to block a car leaving the establishment.

Soon she was dropped on her butt.

She literally ran to the side to get in. front SUV, but the problem is with the driver, because he is constantly trying to “knock them down.”

Despite the seriousness of the charges against her, Abugazale posted a defiant video on social media in which she said she was the victim of “political persecution” and accused the Department of Justice (DOJ) of “a blatant attempt to silence dissent, a right protected by the First Amendment.”

“I will not back down and we are going to win,” she wrote on X.

Attorney General Pam Bondi warned on the day of the incident, the Justice Department “will not stand idly by in the face of such lawlessness.”

“The Department of Justice will seek to bring the most serious charges against all members of these criminal gangs, including crimes of conspiracy, assault, civil disorder crimes and terrorism crimes,” Bondi said.

At least in this matter, the Prosecutor General's Office seems to be following through. More such incidents in resistance theaters need to be taken seriously, leading to more accusations.
