Dell 16 Premium, Nikon ZR, Ooni Volt 2 and more

We've emerged from our collective coma and are back in the review lab here at Engadget. Our team can also be in full preparation for CESbut we need to get rid of a few more devices or our desks before the end of 2025. Stay up to date with everyone reviews you may have missed the last few weeks – perfect for a lazy December weekend.

Dell 16 Premium

Dell

The Dell 16 Premium looks as beautiful as ever, but the usability issues inherent to the XPS line remain.

Pros

  • Sleek, minimalist design
  • High performance
  • Durable keyboard
Cons

  • Invisible trackpad is not user friendly
  • Capacitive function keys disappear in the sun
  • Need more ports
  • Mediocre battery life

There's no denying that the Dell 16 Premium's design allows the laptop to live up to its name. Unfortunately, all this polish comes with some problems: high price and limited usability. “The more I looked at the beautiful façade of the Dell 16 Premium, the more I wanted something… more,” senior reporter Devindra Hardawar wrote. “It needs more convenient ports like HDMI and a full-size SD card reader. It needs more useful function keys that are visible in bright light and also stay in one place to make it easier for me to type with touch input. And for goodness sake, just ditch the invisible trackpad.”

DJI Osmo Action 6

DJI

DJI Osmo Action 6 features the world's first adjustable aperture and a larger square sensor. These features allow it to outperform the competition in low light and on social media, but the lower video resolution is a drawback.

Pros

  • Clear video in low light
  • Excellent battery life
  • Built-in storage
  • Flexible formats
Cons

  • Video resolution is lower than competitors
  • Manual aperture control is limited
  • Not enough film tone settings

$369 on Amazon

DJI's U.S. drone business faces an uncertain future, and the company's action cameras could be put to the test as well. Luckily, our reporter Steve Dent lives in the EU, where he experienced first-hand the Osmo Action 6's excellent low-light performance and battery life. “With a larger sensor and larger aperture than the competition, the DJI Action 6 is now the best action camera on the market for night photography, delivering clear, sharp video with better stabilization than the competition,” He said. “It’s also ideal for users who output content to both YouTube and TikTok.”

Nikon ZR

Nikon

Nikon's ZR delivers the best RAW video quality of any consumer camera, including models that cost much more. At the same time, it is more practical than cinema cameras, thanks to its superior autofocus and built-in stabilization. However, it doesn't have an electronic viewfinder and battery life is poor.

Pros

  • RED RAW offers superior video quality.
  • Fast and reliable autofocus
  • Professional video monitoring tools
  • Huge and bright screen
Cons

  • Mediocre battery life
  • No electronic viewfinder
  • Stabilization is less effective than competitors

$2,197 on Amazon

In keeping with the theme of the video, Steve also spent time testing the Nikon ZR. Although it's primarily a video model, it adds RED RAW, excellent autofocus, and more. “With the ZR, Nikon has shown that it is finally catching up and even surpassing its competitors in content creation,” he explained. “Whether you're shooting social media, YouTube, documentaries or even filmmaking, this camera is versatile and powerful with few compromises.”

Aries Volt 2

Uni/Engadget

Ooni has completely revamped its electric pizza oven concept for the Volt 2. The result is a more sophisticated little appliance with plenty of handy tools for novice pizzaiolos of all skill levels.

Pros

  • Smaller than the original
  • Good combination of presets and settings
  • Large viewing window
  • More affordable than the first generation Volt.
Cons

  • Still heavy
  • Only cooks 12-inch pizzas
  • For internal use only
  • The look is getting pretty hot

$699 on Amazon

The Ooni Volt brought the company's popular brand to indoor pizza cooking for the first time, but the model wasn't without its flaws. Now Ooni is back with the Volt 2, and its completely redesigned design is a significant improvement over the original. “It’s easier to use for all skill levels thanks to clearer controls and a larger display.” I explained. “The presets work well, but they can also serve as a starting point for further refinement of recipes for advanced users. And the pizza – oh my goodness, the pizza is consistently restaurant quality (or better) in a variety of styles.”

Antigravity A1

Antigravity/Ingadget

Antigravity's debut FPV drone is fun, unique and packed with features. There is no such drone.

Pros

  • Fun to fly
  • Intuitive controls
  • Unique opportunities
  • Crisp and clean video (in good condition)
  • Excellent editing tools on both mobile devices and PCs.
Cons

  • Setup can be tricky
  • Video quality is lower than traditional video drones
  • Price

$1,599 at Antigravity

Insta360 subsidiary Antigravity is currently shipping its first drone, and our UK bureau chief Mat Smith has already flown it. The A1 comes with a controller and FPV headset to help with flying, but the combination of unique features and clear video (in good conditions) is also commendable. “The intuitive controls and ability to look around make it unlike anything else currently available.” He said. “This is a delightful introduction to drones, FPV or otherwise, but it's a shame that software issues marred my testing.”
