Death in the Family’ Compares to the Real People

The murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh in 2021 at the hands of one of the people closest to them – Alex Murdaugh — is back in the spotlight thanks to a new Hulu series.

Murdaugh: A Death in the Family, starring Jason Clarke as Alex Murdaugh and Patricia Arquette as Maggie Murdaugh, explores the web of lies woven by a prominent South Carolina lawyer and the deaths left in its wake.

Alex Murdaugh was convicted of murdering his wife and youngest son after they were found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in 2021. sentenced to two consecutive life sentences in a maximum security prison in South Carolina.

Authorities said the double murder set off a series of events, including failed murder-for-hire plan Alex Murdaugh suffered a superficial gunshot wound to the head, officials said. Australian actor Jason Clarke will play the role of Richard Alexander “Alex” Murdaugh. Murdaugh was an influential lawyer who came from a long family of lawyers in South Carolina.

He was convicted of killing his wife Maggie Murdaugh and youngest son Paul Murdaugh in 2023 and also pleaded guilty to dozens of state and federal financial crimes. He is serving two consecutive life sentences in a maximum security prison in South Carolina for the murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh.
