Davis Alexander : perfectionniste jusqu’au bout des ongles

Despite a 30-10 win over Rouge et Noir on Monday in Montreal, Alouettes defenseman Davis Alexander wasn't satisfied with his performance. This is very bad news for the same opponent, given the meeting scheduled for Saturday afternoon in Ottawa.

“I think he's more of a perfectionist than anyone,” Alouettes head coach Jason Maas said of Alexander. During every attack, he never wants to leave the field until the team scores points.

“Obviously there are things he can do better, we know that,” Maas continued. He's not perfect, but he's a leader and does his best. His leadership and competitiveness are always high, which is good when your defender wants to be perfect every game.”

However, in Monday's game, Alexander completed 23 passes in 30 attempts and rushed through the air for 240 yards. He also connected with receiver Austin Mack in the end zone for a touchdown without throwing a single interception.

“Nothing is ever as good as it seems and nothing is as bad as it seems when you watch the video,” Alexander said at practice this week. I just missed a few passes. It happens, but I have very high standards. Sometimes I wish I had better reading material.”

Letcher is missing son

The Alouettes also revealed their lineup for Saturday's game on Friday morning. Montreal will once again be without kick return specialist James Letcher Jr. American midfielder Caleb Johnson finds himself on the sidelines, replaced by his compatriot Bubba Bolden.

Already confident of a playoff spot, the Alouettes (9-7) can still hope to finish first in the East Division. However, to get there, the team must win its final two games of the season and also hope for an unlikely victory for Rouge et Noir (4-12) over the Tiger-Cats (10-7) on Oct. 24 in Hamilton. The Ti-Cats hold the tiebreaker against the Alouettes.
