Dante and Vergil return in 2026

Dante and Virgil will clash in the war between humans and demons

Netflix Devil May Cry animated series returns for an anticipated second season. After the first installment made a splash in 2025, the series was renewed just a week after its debut. An official press release from Netflix confirms that season two will premiere on May 12, 2026.

Adaptation of the iconic video game franchise from Capcom. Devil May Cry comes from Adi Shankar of Castlevania and the famous Laserhawk captain. The show heavily rewrites the lore and history of video games. In the first season, we meet Dante, a human-demon hybrid who works as a mercenary and bounty hunter. He is drawn into a massive global crisis when the White Rabbit, a demonic terrorist, steals Force Edge, a sword belonging to the legendary demon Sparda who separated the human and demon worlds and also turns out to be Dante's father.

In the final episode, we also learn that Dante's long-lost brother, Virgil, is actually alive and serving the evil ruler of the demon realm, Mundus. The two brothers will collide in the second season in the midst of a war between worlds. Johnny Yong Bosch will reprise his role as Dante, Robbie Daymond will voice Virgil, and Scout Taylor-Compton will return as Mary Anne Arkham, “The Lady.” I wonder if opening based on Limp Bizkit will come back too.

The series pays homage to the bombastic attitude of the video game franchise, so if you like cheeky one-liners and explosive action scenes, don't miss it. Devil May Cry Season 2 when it releases on Netflix in May 2026.
