Cuomo warns socialism could be ‘death of New York’ in NYC mayor race

New York City Mayoral Candidate Andrew Cuomo warned voters against socialism, saying such policies could spell “the death of New York.” Cuomo said the socialist movement was driving businesses out of the city and threatening public safety.

“This will be the death of New York as we know it, whether you are a Democrat or a Republican,” Cuomo said on the program.Saturday in America

The former Democratic governor of New York is in a three-way race with the Democratic nominee. Zoran Mamdani and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa.

Throughout the election race, Cuomo positioned himself as an opponent of socialist policies. He promised to restore public safety and restore confidence in business.

“New York scared them [businesses] go to Florida. This is a democratic socialist movement – it started for a reason. This has been growing for years. And it was very powerful in New York,” Cuomo said of the latest business exodus.

He pointed to what he called “hostility” toward businesses, citing the repealed law. Amazon headquarters a project that “the socialists stopped” which he claimed would have brought 25,000 jobs to the city.

“We need business. Business is the engine that moves the train. This is New York. We are the capitalist capital of the country,” Cuomo said.

“We need entrepreneurs. We need talent. We want you to bring your business here. These are possibilities. This is growth. This is America.”

Cuomo also criticized what he called the far left. “anti-police” program, saying this has led to an increase in crime and fewer police officers on the streets.

“We have the lowest police force in modern political history because this far-left socialist mentality has defunded the police,” Cuomo said, promising to add 5,000 officers if elected.

Addressing Republicans and moderate voters, Cuomo emphasized that his campaign is about “rescue” New York from ideological extremes.

“To the Republicans, I say: You are New Yorkers. We are all New Yorkers, and this is about the future of New York and saving New York,” he said.
