Let's all cheer for CRUFT
Will and Matt of Go On Entertainment announced that KRUFT is a finalist at the Boston Indie Games Festival. The duo will showcase it at an event on December 12th. The addition of talented creators to the group is an important milestone for the team, and the event provides an opportunity to share the project with the wider community of players and developers.
CRUFT is a cozy turn-based crafting game based on the idea of starting small and shaping a space that reflects personal creativity. The game starts in an empty lot where you create your workshop and gradually transform it into a place filled with items that suit your interests. Each creative session opens up new possibilities. There are plenty of items to craft, as well as a small network of contacts accessible through your in-game phone. These characters buy and sell goods, giving you different ways to earn, trade and expand. You can also load your van with items and drive into town to sell them.
The most important aspect of the game's identity is the concept of CRUFT. It represents the scraps, scraps, leftovers and general mess that craft naturally creates. These may be inedible parts of the plant or effort spent on something that does not turn out as intended. Controlling CRUFT becomes part of the experience. You can clean it to keep your yard tidy and give you more space to work with. Or you can let it build up and descend into a chaotic environment. The choices shape the personality of the space you build.
CRUFT focuses on freedom, gradual progress and the pleasure of creating things yourself. The BostonFIG exhibition highlights the growing interest in the project and offers a new step forward.
