Flow: collection of criteria
No matter which edition you choose, you'll receive a remastered edition of Flow director Gints Zilbalodis's first animated film, the 2019 fantasy adventure film Away. It also includes several inserts, two featurettes, a documentary, an animated feature, and other special features.
Made using open source software on a budget of approximately $4 million, Flow grossed $20 million and earned a ton of praise from critics and audiences. On Rotten TomatoesFlow has a rating of 97% on Tomatometer (critic reviews) and 98% on Popcornmeter (audience reviews).
Flow is about a cat who goes on an adventure after his home and the world around him are destroyed by a flood. Throughout his journey, he meets a lemur, a capybara and other animals who, like him, just want to survive. This is a rather unconventional film in that its animation and sound design tell a complete story – there is not a single word of dialogue.

Flow's 4K digital transfer and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround sound upgrade have been approved by Zilbalodis. All three editions are based on 4K transfers, so the 1080p and DVD versions will look better than the average Blu-ray/DVD.
Like many Criterion releases, the 4K Blu-ray edition of Flow comes with premium packaging. The fold-out digipak features an interior illustration and is protected by a cover. Inside the case you'll find a fold-out booklet with an essay by film critic Nicholas Rapold and a sheet of character stickers.
The 4K Blu-ray edition of Flow is a three-disc collection: one 4K disc and two 1080p discs. One of the standard Blu-ray discs has the movie and bonus features, while the other has more bonus features, including the 2019 film Away.

Animated films represent a very small portion of Criterion's catalogue. The biggest animated film in The Criterion Collection is undoubtedly WALL-Ewhich won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2009. WALL-E is the only Pixar (or Disney) animated film in the Criterion library. Director Andrew Stanton brought it to Criterion and helmed the remaster, so this is the best version of WALL-E available; it's also arguably the best 4K Blu-ray of any Pixar or Disney animated film, thanks to visual and audio enhancements and a host of special features.
On the visual side, WALL-E offers Dolby Vision and HDR10+. In terms of audio, the film features three surround sound tracks: Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD 7.1, and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. WALL-E is a three-disc collection with approximately four hours of bonus content. Needless to say, Criterion's Blu-ray edition of WALL-E is a must-buy for Pixar fans, especially when it retails for just $25 (was $50).
