On MSNBC's “Deadline” Friday, host Nicole Wallace said President Donald Trump's MAGA coalition is falling apart.
Wallace said: “With every inch of marble and gold gilt that Donald Trump personally commissioned to install in the White House, with every posh party, even Gatsby, with every foreign dignitary, with every business tycoon, with every billionaire technology tycoon that Donald Trump very richly wined and dined, there is a dawning of awareness among his once very loyal supporters that when Donald Trump said “America first,” in fact, he meant primarily Trump and billionaires. The cracks in the MAGA coalition are getting bigger and bigger every day.”
She added: “Donald Trump's political credibility is eroding as he publicly reneges on the campaign promises he made to the country and, importantly in this conversation, to his supporters just 12 months ago.” The New York Yimes puts it this way: “President Trump dined with Wall Street bigwigs. He has embarked on a lavish renovation of the White House at a time when Americans are struggling to pay their bills. He expressed support for grant-in-aid visas for skilled foreigners to work in the United States. He approved a $20 billion bailout for Argentina, helping foreign governments and wealthy investors at a time when the U.S. government was shut down by a president who returned to office promising to avoid foreign embarrassment, make life more affordable, and ensure that available jobs went to American citizens. Add to all this, as today's New York Times reports, his public betrayal of his campaign. promises to release files from Epstein and Trump's Republican allies, at least some of them are finding their red lines.”
