I've been building computers for the better part of two decades. And most of them look like small avant-garde refrigerators. I don't do RGB and I certainly don't do screens inside. So my immediate reaction to the Corsair Frame 3000D LCD RS ARGB is to… well, take a deep breath after hearing that name. But my second reaction is to cringe at the tablet-sized touchscreen on the side.
Not to crap on anyone's delicious food. [editor’s note: he’s absolutely doing that, what a hater]but at least with Xeneon Edge touch screen. on the front side of the case you can make a claim for usefulness. If it's on the side, even if the case is sitting on your desk, how are you even going to do anything with that touchscreen without reaching over and pressing something? You'll have to face it towards you… which I guess makes sense if the purpose of your table is to show off. $800 RGB RAM sticks. But my point is… what are you possibly doing with a 2560×720 screen attached to the side of your PC that you couldn't do more easily if that screen were sitting on a desk in front of the keyboard, which is already available?
What the hell are you doing on that little mini screen that's best used to control your computer with a mouse and keyboard? Do you already have one or more displays on your desk? Am I crazy or just getting old? Please don't scold me guys, it was just rhetoric.
Corsair
With the exception of the side panel with screen mounting kit, the Frame 4000 LCD RS ARGB is otherwise very similar to Corsair's existing Frame 4000D, with support for 360mm radiators on the front, top and sides, a maximum of 13 120mm fan mounting points, and compatibility with motherboards with rear panel connectors such as the Asus BTF series. The combination of body and screen is hefty 400 US dollars, currently shipping to Corsair US store.
But if you already have a 4000D or 5000D case, you can upgrade it with a side panel that fits into the screen. according to KitGuru. I have to admit it's really cool… though between panels for $40 And $250 Xeneon Edge touchscreenyou're almost there in terms of price. But the screen now comes in Atomic Purple with a matching desktop stand (which you should definitely use instead of tethering it to your computer), so I have to admire it.
