- Corsair adds Frame 4000D LCD RS ARGB to its line of PC cases
- It comes with a 14.5-inch Xeneon Edge touchscreen.
- Asking price $399.99.
Corsair recently released the latest addition to its Frame series of PC cases, the Frame 4000D LCD RS ARGB. As the name suggests, this model comes with a 14.5-inch LCD screen on the left side of the body.
In theory, this is ideal for monitoring things like GPU temperature, quickly viewing the date and time, and adding useful widgets right at your fingertips.
But in practice, I don’t understand why spend 400 dollars on this matter if you can get original 4000D frame for $114.99. and you'll have over $200 left over to buy yourself another monitor.
Frame 4000D LCD RS ARGB: a closer look
Let's take a closer look at the new Frame 4000D LCD RS ARGB from Corsair. If you look past the exorbitant asking price, this is an outstanding mid-tower case.
Its dimensions of 490 x 486 x 239 mm (19.29 x 19.13 x 9.41 inches) are unchanged from the original Frame 4000D, providing support for Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX and E-ATX builds, while also offering plenty of internal space for future expansion.
If you like to check out your components, you can use the tempered glass side panel to check out your computer's fancy details, and the steel mesh front panel (also found on other Frame cases) is great for letting in plenty of air and giving the case a premium appearance.
Speaking of airflow, the Frame 4000D LCD RS ARGB also has room for 13 fans. One of the most interesting features of this case for me is Corsair's InfiniRail mounting system, which supports 120mm, 140mm, and 200mm fans with the flick of a switch. If you're using an AIO liquid CPU cooler, you can mount it on the front, side, or top and install additional fans as needed.
It is also available in a black and white color scheme and features an updated front I/O panel design, featuring a power button, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 2 USB-C Gen 1 ports, and 1 USB-C Gen 2×2 port.
And the quality of life doesn't end there. If you're using one of today's big, heavy, and bulky graphics cards, you'll appreciate an anti-sagging stabilizer that will keep the most expensive part of your build safe. There's also a cable cover to hide unsightly cable webs.
But all of that takes a backseat to the real reason Corsair released this case: the Xeneon Edge's 14.5-inch LCD touchscreen. This is the star of the show. It has a resolution of 2560 x 720 and a refresh rate of 60Hz and can be mounted vertically or horizontally.
It supports 5-point touch and can be customized Corsair iCUE to display all sorts of apps, widgets and PC metrics, or just beautiful illustrations to add a personal touch to your setup.
Offline screen can be mounted in different waysalthough the Frame 4000D LCD RS ARGB all-in-one kit always has it attached to the body horizontally under the tempered glass side panel.
Frame 4000D needs no gimmicks
Let me start by saying that I love Corsair PC cases. I use the 4000D Airflow for my personal gaming PC and it's fantastic. But I just don't understand why Corsair went in this direction.
I've gone on record as saying that I hate it when manufacturers add screens to their products to show them off (check out my article on These 5 Horrible Keyboard Trends Are Here to Stay in 2024). Yes, this has some functionality. But I don't see enough benefit to justify the price hike.
Why would I pay $400 for a PC case with a small 60Hz screen when I can buy a great case for around $100 and spend the rest on a 144Hz+ monitor that does everything the Xeneon Edge does?
No, this external monitor will not be touchscreen. But how often will you use that touchscreen anyway? This trick will lose its luster after a few weeks, if not sooner, and you'll want to use something more practical. Especially with RAM prices have skyrocketed to current levels.
You can even get the Frame 4000D, a 144Hz monitor, And The Elgato Stream Deck MK.2 is priced slightly less than the Frame 4000D LCD RS ARGB alone.
If this case appeals to you with all its fantastic benefits and you don't mind the price, then by all means add it to your collection. But if you're not sure what you'll use this touchscreen for, there's absolutely no reason to buy it over Corsair's other tried-and-true PC cases.
