Control Resonant sends Jesse’s brother, Dylan, to a perception-bending Manhattan at some point in 2026

You know when you see the Remedy name attached to the project, you will witness a surreal and dizzying series of events. But with the recently announced sequel to the action-adventure film Control – now officially known as Control Resonant – the studio took what it does best and turned the volume up to 11 thanks to a distorted Manhattan hellscape full of kaleidoscopic pigeons and paranatural creatures.

How many speculated earlier this yearControl Resonant players will take on the mantle of Dylan Faden, brother of Control's Jesse. And while Jesse had a gun, Dylan has a giant, shape-shifting melee weapon known as an Aberrant, and by the looks of it, he'll probably need it as he makes his way through the perception-altering city. “After years of imprisonment in the hands of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBK), Dylan Faden's former captors exploit him at the peak of a supernatural crisis,” the official blurb reads.

“Tasked with battling a mysterious cosmic entity that is changing fundamental aspects of our reality, Dylan must use his newfound powers to take on the myriad threats plaguing Manhattan. On the path to unlocking the full potential of his supernatural abilities, Dylan will also search for his sister, FBC Director Jessie Faden, as he struggles to understand and contain the dangers that have spread beyond the Oldest House and torn the world apart.”

Creative director Mikael Kasurinen said that Control Resonant will take players on a “vast, reality-bending playground of choice, power and consequence” upon its release, adding that you don't have to have played the first game to enjoy the upcoming sequel.

“We made it easy to pick up and difficult to put down,” the developer said. “We're expanding the scope of everything we've done before, turning combat, exploration, and storytelling into a larger, more memorable experience.

“It's ambitious, a little wild, and we can't wait for players to get lost in it.”

Control Resonant is scheduled to release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac via Steam and App Store. Will you play?

Elsewhere in Remedy news earlier this year studio CEO Tero Virtala resigned from his position in the company. While Remedy's statement did not specify the reason for Virtala's departure after 11 years with the company, it followed profit warning for investors “due to weak sales” of Control studio’s multiplayer spin-off, FBK: Fiery Breakthrough.
