CALGARY — Connor Bedard had a goal and three primary assists to move into the NHL's scoring lead as the Chicago Blackhawks routed the Calgary Flames 4-0 on Friday.
Tyler Bertuzzi had a pair of goals and Andre Burakovsky also scored for Chicago (7-5-3).
After a season-high five-goal streak in Wednesday's win over Columbus, Calgary (4-10-2) returned to the scoring woes that have plagued the club for much of the season.
The Flames, who managed to score one or fewer goals for the sixth time, are the league's top scoring team at 2.19 goals per game. They also rank last in the NHL overall standings.
In a goaltending showdown between former USA Hockey World Junior Championship teammates, Spencer Knight made 33 goals in his first game as a Blackhawk, while Calgary's Dustin Wolf made 23 saves.
Knight improved to 6-3-2 on the season, recording his sixth career shutout. Wolf fell to 4-9-1.
Fresh off his third-period hat trick on Wednesday in Vancouver, Bertuzzi's first goal 12:32 into the game gave him four goals through two periods.
The score remained 1-0 until Chicago ended the game with a three-goal third.
Takeaway
Blackhawks: Frank Nazar left the game late in the first period after falling awkwardly following a cross shot from Joel Farabee. The 21-year-old center is off to a great start in his second season, scoring 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists). Colton Duch fought Farabee after the hit that left Chicago with 10 hitters. Coach Jeff Blashill started 11 forwards and seven defensemen.
Flames: With Kevin Bahl (undisclosed) unable to play, Calgary's blue line featured two rookies in Zane Parekh and Yan Kuznetsov, who took Bahl's usual spot in the top four with Rasmus Andersson. It was a spirited game with blueliners Mackenzie Weegar and Joel Hanley joining Farabee as fighters in the game's three bouts. Parekh (upper body) left the game after being hit by Nick Foligno.
