James Skinner LLC is recalling a batch of Publix Maple Walnut Coffee Cake because some units were incorrectly labeled with ingredients.
The product may pose a serious or life-threatening health risk to people with walnut allergies if they consume the affected product.
The recalled product was packaged in boxes labeled “Maple Pecan Coffee Cake” but was then accidentally labeled as Publix Raspberry Coffee Cake. The Raspberry Coffee Cake label states that it is “processed on equipment that also processes almonds, pecans and walnuts,” but walnuts are not included in the ingredients list.
Through the clear lid you can see that the product has walnuts on top and a brown maple filling, whereas the raspberry coffee cake has no walnuts on top and a red filling. The problem was discovered by a retail store employee who noticed visible walnuts on the top of the product and noticed that the product was labeled “Raspberry Coffee Cake” rather than labeled “Maple Walnut Coffee Cake.”
The recalled product was sent to supply and distribution specialists in Winter Haven, Florida, who then distributed the product to Publix retail stores in 8 states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
The recalled coffee cake can be identified by the following label information: Publix Raspberry Coffee Cake; 14 oz; Lot code 5309; Article 54591; Date of manufacture 05.11.25.
There have been no reports of injuries or illnesses at this time.
