Clicks is finally rolling out a Blackberry-like smartphone

Clicks, the company behind Keyboard clicksintroduced its first smartphone.

Named The Communicator clicks, It's a full-fledged Android device with a physical keyboard, a nearly square 4.03-inch OLED screen, and interchangeable color back panels.

Focusing on the keyboard will provide a more tactile typing experience while also adding a modern experience. The keyboard features a fingerprint scanner on the spacebar and BlackBerry-style scrolling by swiping across the keyboard itself, as well as a customizable Clicks key (similar to Apple's Action key) to launch specific apps/features.

This shortcut key, located on the right side of the device, lets you begin speech input, including voice-to-text, voice recording, meeting transcription, and more. The dongle also has a built-in notification light, dubbed the Signal LED, which can be used for specific contacts, group chats, or even specific apps.

Clicks Communicator runs on an unnamed 4nm MediaTek platform. Little is known about the chipset, although there are speculations that it is either MT8883 or MT8873. The Communicator also includes a 4,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, 256GB of internal memory with a microSD card slot for more storage, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Qi2 wireless charging, a single 50MP rear camera and a 24MP front camera located in the top left corner. In terms of connectivity, there is a physical SIM card slot, support for eSIM, 5G, NFC and WiFi 6.

Clicks stated that the communicator can be used as a standalone device; however, they added that it is intended for people who regularly use two phones. According to Android authority, Clicks views the device as a communication-oriented device (no pun intended), while your personal device serves more of an entertainment and content capture purpose.

Communicator will retail for $499, with a promotional price of $399 if you pay with either a $199 deposit or the full deposit amount by February 27th ahead of launch later this year.
