Clemson Tigers ended the 2025 season on a sad note.
Clemson met with Penn State Nittany Lions in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Saturday afternoon and became the target of ridicule on social media for a failed fake punt attempt.

At the end of their first drive, the Tigers tried a trick. Punter Jack Smith took the snap and attempted to throw the ball deep. Ronan Hanafin, the intended target, was not looking at the ball when the ball was passed to him.
College football fans mocked Clemson over the game.
It has been a tough day for the Tigers since then. Penn State led 6-3 at halftime, and Clemson only managed to get one touchdown on the board in the second half.

The Nittany Lions scored 16 points in the fourth quarter to help win the game 22-10.
Penn State quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer threw a 73-yard pass to Trebor Pena and then an 11-yard touchdown pass to tight end Andrew Rappley.
The redshirt freshman, who was forced to start seven games this season due to the injured Drew Allar, was 23 of 34 passing for 262 yards. Penn State won its final three games to reach the bowl game and finished the year as winners of its final four games, going 7–6.

Questions have swirled about Dabo Swinney's future and will continue to swirl after a disappointing season. Clemson won the final four games of the regular season to qualify for the bowl. However, the Tigers were ranked fourth in the country when the season began.
