CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) — Charles Schwab Cup champions Stuart Sink and Jason Caron combined for 22.5 points in two matches Friday to help the Americans move closer to Europe heading into the final singles session of the Skechers World Champions Cup.
Europe got strong performances from three former Ryder Cup captains – Darren Clarke, Thomas Bjorn and Colin Montgomerie – and maintained a slim lead on 109.5 points.

The Americans had 108 points, and for the international teams, three teams came out on top and stayed close with 106.5 points. Team captain Mike Weir and Steven Alker scored the most points in both matches.
The pro-am at Feather Sound Country Club is Saturday and the singles session is Sunday.
“Jason and Stewart really had two great practices, morning and afternoon,” said Team USA captain Jim Furyk. “They played some great golf and paved the way for us. They let us claw our way back and now … it's anyone's ball game on Sunday.”
The three-way competition features nine-hole modified alternate stroke and best ball matches. Points are awarded based on the results of each hole. Half of the points are awarded in singles.
