Chris Hayes Furious With Fox Over ‘Edited’ Soundbite in Harris Interview

MSNBC's Chris Hayes called Fox News for not showing full context Donald Trump“Enemy Within” Comments During Vice President's Speech Kamala Harrisinterview online earlier Wednesday.

Anchor All inclusive opened his broadcast by highlighting something Harris herself made during a conversation with Fox's Bret Baier. The clip that the right-wing network showed Harris as part of Baier's question was of Trump during his women's town hall event in Georgia – the same one at which Trump bizarrely reasoned he was the “father of IVF”.

In the clip that Fox played directly to Harris during her interview, Trump could not be heard. talk about how former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi or Rep. Adam Schiff are the “enemy within.” Instead, Foxx forced Harris to take a softer approach to his talk of “fake investigations.” The network missed Trump's “enemy within” line.

Harris didn't fall for it, and neither did Hayes.

Celebrating Bayer's past as a man who…along with Tucker Carlson, concerned about losing viewers after Fox's decision service correctly called Arizona for Joe Biden in 2020, Hayes said, “That Bret Baier attacked Kamala Harris with every attack in the Trump play, including one moment when he was caught using an edited Trump soundbite.”

Hayes had harsh words for Bayer.

“Bayer just used a sound bite to try to clear Donald Trump of saying it, where he cut out the part where he says it!” Hayes noted before showing the full context of Trump's comments, in which he mentioned Schiff and Pelosis just seconds before Fox's version of the video began.

Hayes seemed surprised by the idea that Fox might have assumed the move would not go unnoticed.

“You see what they did there on their own network? We also have recording equipment here at 30 Rock and a lot of other places where you can just pick it up,” he said matter-of-factly.

Hayes then shared more about Trump's town hall event, which chosen one many of his supporters, something Fox did not disclose.

Host Harris Faulkner “gave Trump the opportunity to back away from his fascist rhetoric,” but Trump didn't take it, Hayes said.

“He never accepts it because he truly believes and wants to do what he says he wants to do. Then Bret Baier tried to clean it up for Trump again with a selectively edited clip,” he continued. “This is the same book we see over and over again from Fox.”

“I think we all know that after this,” Hayes concluded, “Donald Trump will have no choice but to come on MSNBC for an interview.”
