Gracie Hunt, daughter of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, supports Turning Point USA's plan to stage an alternative Super Bowl halftime show, in direct opposition to the NFL's decision. will present Bad Bunny at Super Bowl LX.
Hunt said Tuesday on Fox News Channel's “The Will Kane Show” that she “definitely” supports Turning Point's counterprogramming efforts led by Erica Kirkwidow of Charlie Kirk. The NFL's choice of Bad Bunny for the halftime show has drawn sharp criticism from many on the right who object to his criticism of Donald Trump and immigration enforcement in the United States.
“I have a lot of respect for Erica for everything she's done, especially bringing the semi-period show to America,” she said. “You know, kids are young, they're impressionable. Young women, young men and everyone, they just need someone to look up to.”
Hunt shaped her position through the legacy of her grandfather Lamar Hunt, one of the founding fathers of the modern NFL, who came up with the name of the Super Bowl. She said the game was designed to be accessible to fans of all ages. “When my grandfather named the Super Bowl, he wanted it to be something that kids and families of all ages could come together and watch,” she said. “Football is about appeal and that it doesn't need to compromise its character or rely on cheap appeal to attract an audience.”
She said the league has a responsibility to choose performers that reflect its long-standing personality. “Soccer is becoming a global sport, but at its core it is an American sport built around family,” she said. ” NFL honors women, honors the military, honors this country, honors communities. So I think whoever they choose to perform at halftime should more accurately reflect those values.”
US turning point influential right-wing student organization co-founder Charlie Kirk, announced in October that there will be an “All-American Halftime Show” during next year's NFL championship game. The idea quickly gained popularity among conservatives who objected to Bad Bunny's presence at the game.
Hunt also weighed in on who she'd like to see on future breaks. “An artist like [country music star] Jason Aldean might make sense,” she said, adding, “I'd love to see Miss Taylor Swift there someday.” Travis [Kelce] is retired.”
Her comments come as the league faces an escalating political dispute over the 2026 halftime headliner. Bad Bunny – a Puerto Rican superstar and US citizen who has been an outspoken critic of aggressive immigration enforcement – spoke out against the outrage. during his Saturday Night Live monologue He joked last month that everyone seemed excited about the booking, “even Fox News.” He also highlighted the contributions of Latinos to the United States and told viewers that if they didn't understand his Spanish remarks, they had “four months to learn.”
The backlash intensified after Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem warned that immigration agents will “close out” next year's Super Bowl and said that only Americans should attend the event. Bad Bunny said fears of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids influenced his decision to exclude the US mainland from his recent world tour.
The NFL, despite outrage from conservatives, made it clear last month. he won't reconsider his choice. Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league stood by its decision despite criticism from Trump and his supporters. The process, he says, is “carefully thought out” and “I'm not sure we've ever picked an artist that hasn't caused backlash or criticism. That's pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people watching.”
Trump fired the performer in an interview with Newsmaxsaying he had “never heard of” Bad Bunny and calling him an “absolutely ridiculous” NFL pick. But Goodell said the league chose him because of his outstanding ability. “He is one of the leading and most popular artists in the world,” he said. “That's what we're trying to achieve. It's an important milestone for us. It's an important element of entertainment value.” He added that the NFL is “confident this will be a great show,” calling it a “moment of unity.”
Hunt concluded her speech Tuesday by describing what she sees as a broader cultural shift among young Americans. “I think our generation gets a bad rap, but I'm so excited about this movement that I'm seeing among this younger generation,” she said. “They're hungry for a deeper 'why'. They're hungry for Jesus. November is global Bible month, and Bible sales are up.”
“And I’m just seeing a massive resurgence of young women and young men on college campuses who are getting baptized and sharing the gospel and wanting to make this world a better place.”
Super Bowl LX will take place on February 8th at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
