Chargers defender Justin Herbert He underwent surgery Monday to stabilize a fracture in his non-throwing arm, and his status for next Monday night's game against Philadelphia will be determined later this week, the team announced.
Herbert was injured in the first quarter Sunday's win over Las Vegas when the back of his left hand apparently collided with the helmet of Raiders cornerback Jeremy Chinn. The quarterback scored a touchdown on the play following the collision in question.

He then briefly left the game and was given a cast in the locker room. He soon returned to the game and scored three more touchdowns using only the shotgun because taking snaps under center is extremely difficult when throwing.
Coach Jim Harbaugh noted Herbert's resilience and ability to continue making accurate passes after his injury.
“When it comes down to it, he’s almost out of this world,” the coach said. “It brings a lot of respect.”
The Chargers said Herbert's return to the game was considered “day-to-day,” although the quarterback said after the game the only way he wouldn't play was if the team doctor told him it would be “very unwise.”
One area that can be a concern is passing the ball, especially when moving to the right when the quarterback typically uses his left hand.
“I think ball security is paramount,” Herbert said after the game. “I thought I did a pretty good job in the pocket today. Just take care of the running backs. So that's just something we need to work on.”
