Cameron Dicker kicked a 54-yard field goal — one of his five in the game — and Tony Jefferson intercepted Jalen Hurts in overtime at the one-yard line, picking up the ball. Los Angeles Chargers to a 22-19 victory over the faltering Philadelphia Eagles.
Hurts also brought some unwanted history into the game by being the first man in the game. NFL story to turn the ball over twice in the same game.
The Chargers (9-4) won shortly after overcoming Odafe Owe's penalty for a neutral zone violation, giving the Eagles their first loss on fourth-and-4. One play later, Hurts threw deep to Jahan Dotson in double coverage, but Jefferson stayed on his feet for the final play.
Hurts threw four interceptions and the Eagles committed five turnovers. The defending Super Bowl champions lost their worst third straight of the season and fell to 8-5.
Dicker's 46-yard field goal with 12 seconds left sent the game into overtime, 19-19, after Jake Elliott's 44-yarder minutes earlier gave the Eagles a 19-16 lead. Dicker made all five field goals perfectly.
Elliott kicked four field goals at Sophie Stadium, where the green and white Eagles jerseys featured prominently in the crowd.
Saquon Barkley gave the Eagles the lead with a 52-yard touchdown run to start the fourth quarter, making it 16-13. He finished the game with 122 yards on 20 carries.
Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was 12 of 26 for 138 yards, one touchdown and one interception while playing with his surgically repaired low-throwing left arm. He also rushed for 66 yards on 10 carries. Hurts was 21 of 40 for 240 yards and four interceptions.
Hurts' unusual sequence of events occurred with 8:30 left in the second quarter. He was intercepted by Chargers defensive tackle Da'Shaun Hand at the Los Angeles 17. Eagles running back Will Shipley quickly caught up with Hand and forced a fumble. The ball flew back and forth into my hands… It hurt. But just as he was able to grab the ball, Hurts knocked it out by Chargers cornerback Jamari Caldwell. After the ball rolled another 10 yards to Los Angeles, Chargers linebacker Troy Dye recovered the ball, ending the chaotic game. Hurts is the first player in NFL history to turn the ball over twice in one game, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
“Not the way we planned it,” Herbert said of his team's close victory. “But these guys are a lot of fun to fight with and I’m honored to be a part of this team, they never give up.”

The Chargers have a tougher matchup where they play the Chiefs, Cowboys, Texans and Broncos.
