It's a gorgeous voice associated with hits from the 1990s and 2000s that was revealed on Sunday during a special Halloween show. Masked singers.
La Chicane leader Boom Desjardins, aka Monsieur Cornichon, was forced to leave the competition.
His rendition of the song I'm a singera song from the repertoire of Mario Pelchat, received the least number of votes from the public gathered in the MELS studio. Talking about the coach Voicehe was present in his Wolf costume, which was seen in the third season, and even gave Renardo a note, renewing I live by prayerBon Jovi. Investigator Melissa Bédard had recently received additional information about Renardo's identity.
But let's return to Boom Desjardins. He told QMI he was “waiting for a call” from the set after investigators called his name several times in previous seasons.
The 54-year-old artist, who became a property developer in Val d'Or a few years ago, had to overcome several challenges, including “finding songs” that had never been heard in Masked singers– he described.
“I also had to accept that I would sing them worse than I could. (laughs). Let's just say that if I didn't have a compromise, I would have sung them differently. I thought I could change my voice better, but it wasn't that easy,” he added.
He even prepared some production proposals in his own studio. Some were turned down because he was told he was too easy to recognize or that we didn't have the rights to a particular song.
Really, cucumber?
At first, Boom admits that he wasn't thrilled about the idea of playing the role of Mr. Pickle.
“I was expecting to see a Wolf as handsome as Mario, but when I saw Mr. Pickle's costume, I said, 'Wow!' I fell in love with this! I said to myself, “Okay, I'll take this and be a pickle for the rest of my life!” (laughs)
Like other participants, Boom had to hold a very large suit in his hands. Weight had to be considered with every step in the spotlight. Height too.
“I'm short, so the suit was three or four feet taller than me! It was heavy!”
Almost 30 years of Chicana
Boom continues to perform more than twenty times a year as part of La Chicane 2.0 with his comrades Eric Maheu and Jean-Marc Couture. “I’ve had enough, I don’t want any more, because I want to go fishing, hunting, this, that.”
He is already preparing for the 30th.e anniversary of the group, in 2027, and is making his way, making it his goal to travel “everywhere” in the province without constantly being in the media or social networks, which has a base of loyal fans who have also followed him in his solo career.
“My team sometimes criticizes me for not using social media, but I don't like it. Every day I communicate with people, this is my social network. There is only one reason why the world comes to my concerts – for the songs, not for my travel photos,” said Boom, who is in a state of “gratitude.”
Kiss Masked singers
In this Halloween special, investigators Melissa Bédard, Sam Breton, Anouk Meunier and Stéphane Rousseau wore Kiss costumes. Yes, yes, with the famous makeup. The show, taped this summer, aired a week after the death of Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley was reported.
