Chandni Lakhani Signs With CAA

EXCLUSIVE: Chandni Lakhani has signed a representation deal with Creative Artists Agency.

Lakhani co-wrote and wrote the hit Netflix series. Department Kalong with Academy Award nominee Scott Frank.

The series is an adaptation of crime novels by Danish writer Jussi Adler-Olsen. Department K, Matthew Goode plays Chief Inspector Karl Morck. After a violent incident turns Mork's life upside down, the emotionally scarred detective is tasked with organizing a cold case unit, Section Q, upon his return to work. At first, the frustrated policeman is happy to waste his days. However, his detective instincts eventually awaken and his new department becomes a magnet for a team of misfits and mavericks.

The Edinburgh-set series spent six weeks in the streamer's top 10 TV shows. The first season premiered in May and has since been renewed for a second season. In addition to Goode, the film also stars Chloe Pirrie, Alexei Manvelov, Leah Byrne and Kelly MacDonald.

Lakhani's previous credits include BBC One and the British police procedural Peacock. Vigil and BBC One and Starz's Dublin murders. She began her career as a script editor on Charlie Brooker's Emmy Award-winning series. Black mirror for Netflix, helping develop episodes including “San Junipero” and “USS Callister.”

Most recently, Universal International Studios achieved competition success for its latest original series by taking on a significant pilot script commitment.

Lakhani remains represented in the UK by Independent Talent Group and lawyer Jorn Levine Barnes.
