After exciting games this week, there's one big question about the top-ranked teams: How will the selection committee view the Hoosiers' comeback win over Penn State on the road?

Fernando Mendoza, with 36 seconds left in the game at Beaver Stadium, found Omar Cooper Jr. for a 7-yard touchdown pass, where the latter made a miraculous effort to not only secure the ball, but also put his foot downfield to keep the game alive. Indiana went up 27–24 and maintained its undefeated season.

The Nittany Lions lost six games in a row and their season went downhill, leading to the firing of James Franklin as head coach.

However, the selection committee decided to keep their second ranking at number one.

“That was one of the long discussions we had at our meeting,” said CFP committee chairman Mac Rhoades, who serves as the athletic director at Baylor. told ESPN on Tuesday night that the Hoosiers remained in second place. “Indiana, we gave them the edge on defense and, of course, on offense. You think about Indiana’s work…Indiana found a way to find a way.”

Meanwhile, the Aggies crushed another ranked opponent with a road win over Missouri, which is no longer ranked in the top 25.

Looking at the other top 12, the Red Raiders moved up two spots from No. 8 to No. 6 after a dominant 29-7 win over BYU over the weekend. Unfortunately for the Pumas, their first defeat meant they dropped five places from their initial ranking to 12th.

Rhoades said the committee saw Texas Tech's “convincing win” over BYU.
