Mario Dumont, who heads one of the most popular programs on the airwaves in Quebec, admits that he often turned down invitations that offered him a place on morning manbut clarifies that he accepted QUB radio's offer for a very specific reason.
The star host confessed to Jean-Philippe Dion on Tuesday night's show. Sweet mattethat, having refused all offers from other stations, he finally reconsidered his position when he learned that he was going to become a grandfather.
“When they approached me [il y a plusieurs années]the people who did it did it in good faith, because their superiors told them: “He should be the first person to contact,” the former politician admitted to Jean-Philippe Dion, who accompanied him during a regular working day.
” [Quand QUB] came up to me, I was in a different state of mind. “I told myself I would try this for at least a year,” he then added, clarifying that he initially signed a one-year contract before agreeing to continue the adventure.
The Mario Dumont Morning Show debuted on 99.5 FM Montréal in August 2024. Since then, it has recorded the largest growth in listenership in the entire market and ranks third among morning shows.
“I'm still a little traumatized by political polls. It's on those days when you're high that you risk falling,” he joked to Jean-Philippe Dion.
