Céline Dion a eu raison de tasser Lara Fabian!

Are you really surprised?

When you read in Magazine Tuesday details of the war between Celine Dion and Lara Fabianyou exclaimed: “Oh God, I thought that in the wonderful world of music everyone loves and helps each other!” Or did you say to yourself: “There is no more cruel environment than show business!”?

Are you angelic and naive or clear and realistic?

Personally, I wasn't the least bit surprised. Earning your place in the hyper-competitive world of international music is not easy. You don't give anyone a gift. You may even have to pull the rug out from under anyone who comes close to your livelihood.

Celine, Inc.

You read this in Magazine Tuesday: “Celine Dion threatened to leave Sony Music after learning the record company planned to offer Lara Fabian a contract to launch her career in the United States.”

This is completely normal. An artist of this caliber behaves exactly like a company, has the same priorities as a multinational corporation.

You are defending your territory. At any cost. You will never allow a competitor to enter your field, even through a small gap. You protect your privileged contacts, the ones you've spent years building. You don't retreat even a millimeter.

Artists in general are always ready to show themselves as virtuous, to show goodwill and support. “The world of show business is one big family.” My eye! This is a lie, an extreme lie.

No one climbed the ladder to reach the highest heights by wasting their time trying to kill others. Every man for himself, and may the best man win.

Celine behaved with Lara the way Coca-Cola would behave with Pepsi. – Shut up, uncle!

I interviewed Celine Dion seven times for the magazine. 7 days. She very generously provided us with her first photo of herself pregnant with twins Eddie and Nelson. Then the first photo of the twins. Mister Angélil trusted me, and I always managed not to betray this special bond. If Monsieur Angelil respected you, he could give you the moon. But if you were on “his bad side,” you were in purgatory for a long time. What if Celine was just like her husband and manager?

Every time I interviewed Celine in Las Vegas or on the phone, I found her funny, energetic, determined, but above all, hypersensitive.

So it doesn't surprise me for a second that the reason she fired Lara Fabian was also because she didn't forgive her for suggesting she was a better singer than she was. You won't get to Celine unless you have a big ego. And nowhere is it written that we must forgive the one who offended us.

If I wanted to use a metaphor, I would say that Lara wanted to trip Celine, and that since revenge is a dish best served cold, Celine brought it back when she could.

The question that kills

If Lara Fabian was in the same situation as Celine and had the opportunity to block her opponent, would she do it? I'm sure yes.
