SPOILER ALERT: This story contains spoilers from the Wednesday, December 17 finale.SurvivorSeason 49.
It's officially the 50th season of Survivor! The first trailer for the upcoming season of In the Hands of the Fans, which features some of the best players to ever play the game, debuted Wednesday night following the end of Season 49.
The trailer begins in slow motion, showing some of the action. best players of all time from “Survivor” boards a private jet for the epic 50th season. Some of them are quite recognizable without even showing their faces – for example, Ozzy Lust and Jonathan Young. The first person shown is Colby Donaldson.
Probst tells the former players, “We chose you to represent 25 years of the greatest adventure on television. It's a great honor, and the only thing we want in exchange for giving you a spot… is everything.”
Mike White has the best teaser ever (of course!), adding, “It's a little like a high school reunion meets a massacre.”
There are also some surprise guests – Zac Brown and Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson appear in the trailer, and the Beast carries his famous briefcase. Plus his coin inlaid with “Beast Games” and “Survivor” can be seen earlier in the video. Rick Devens reveals that “boomerang idol Billie Eilish” is also in the picture, while Christian Hubicki adds: “Jimmy Fallon could decide my fate in this game.” The two players from Season 49 were revealed to be finalists Savannah Louis and Rizo Velovich.
What's perhaps most interesting, though, is the fact that the trailer shows Probst looking like he's competing.
Even before the trailer aired, Season 49 came to a dramatic end; Savannah became the fifth woman to win four individual immunity challenges in one season, defeating finalists Sage Ahrens-Nichols, Sophie Balerdi, Christina Mills and Rizo in the penultimate immunity challenge. She decided to take Sophie with her to the sanctuary.
Sophie took home the last (and her first!) necklace next, and despite the last three deals with Rizo and Savannah, she didn't want to argue with anyone and told everyone to practice shooting. Savannah was upset; and Rizo said that he needed Savannah if he would make a fire. Ultimately, Sophie decided to see Sage through. In the end, Savannah defeated Rizo in the fire-making competition, then defeated Sophie and Sage to win the $1 million prize.
It's important to note that this is only the third time the show has had an all-female final three – and it's been 20 seasons since that last happened.
“Survivor” 50 debuts on CBS on Wednesday, February 25 at 8:00 pm ET. To celebrate this season, CBS will air past episodes throughout the series' history Monday through Friday starting February 9th.
