CD Projekt has sold its PC game store GOG back to Michal Kiciński, the digital store's original co-founder. And cult developer of role-playing games.
Michal Kiciński founded the Polish company in the 1990s, but GOG only emerged in 2008 with the mission of helping people find, buy and play old DRM-free games. The distribution service now often covers new, big-budget games as well involving fans in the restoration and preservation of classics for example, most recently Dino Crisis.
“If you are a GOG Patron or donate to support the preservation program, those funds stay with GOG,” the post reads. Frequently Asked Questions the page explains. “GOG will remain independent in its operations. We will continue to build an ethical, non-predatory, and long-lasting platform while helping indie developers reach the world. We are also committed to giving the community a stronger voice, with new initiatives planned for 2026.”
