Canad’s Tani Oluwaseyi scores a hat-trick for Villarreal in Spain’s Cope del Rey – Brandon Sun

LUCENA – Canada's Tani Oluwaseyi scored a hat-trick in a 6-0 Copa del Rey first-round win over lower division side Ciudad de Lucena.

Lucene plays in the Tercera Federacion, the fifth division of Spanish football. Villarreal, which is also home to Canadian international Tajon Buchanan, currently sits third in La Liga's top flight with a 6-2-2 record.

Oluwaseyi scored in the 15th, 17th and 71st minutes.

The 25-year-old forward from Mississauga, Ontario, joined the Spanish side on August 29 via a transfer from Minnesota United.

Nigerian native Oluwaseyi, who moved to Canada when he was 10 years old, was selected by Minnesota in the first round (17th overall) of the 2022 MLS SuperDraft out of St. John's.

He won 19 caps for Canada, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
