Leading eSIM provider Airalo has released a new report containing some interesting data about Canadians' travel habits this year.
Taking into account purchases of Canadian Airalo eSIM between December 2024 and October 2025, Airalo notes that the US remains the main destination for Canucks, even despite the noticeable decline caused by unreasonable American tariffs, attacks on Canadian sovereignty And civil rights issues. Below are the top 10 destinations for Canadians with increases or decreases compared to last year, according to Airalo:
- USA (down 26 percent)
- Japan (up 34 percent)
- Mexico (up 32 percent)
- France (up 42 percent)
- UK (up 20 percent)
- Italy (down 3 percent)
- Portugal (up 21 percent)
- Spain (up 9 percent)
- Costa Rica (up 32 percent)
- Thailand (up 35 percent)
Meanwhile, Airalo said the top three fastest-growing destinations were Lebanon (up 302 percent), South Korea (up 213 percent) and the Czech Republic (up 190 percent). On the other hand, the three destinations with the slowest growth are Bosnia and Herzegovina (down 30 percent), the United States (down 26 percent) and Turkey (down 10 percent). Looking ahead, Airalo says new destinations to watch in 2026 include Martinique, the Azores, Finland, India and Guatemala.
Other random interesting points worth noting:
- Victoria Day is the 'unofficial' start of summer and it was actually Airalo's busiest travel period of the year.
- The first two weekends in May are especially popular, so the end of April is the best time for spring travel.
- September and October are good times to travel due to good deals and comparatively less demand.
- February is peak time for snowbirds in the US, Mexico and Japan.
Of course, this data only takes into account Airalo users, so it's only part of the bigger picture. However, getting this kind of information is useful and may even help you plan your next trip.
